Welcome

Zakho British International School was the first school to open up in the Rast Education group’s portfolio of schools. The school opened to students in September 2014 and since that date has gone from strength to strength, rapidly gaining an exemplary reputation for academic rigour and student engagement. Now in its second full academic year, the school has capitalised on this growing reputation and has more than doubled its pupil roll. Currently the school accepts students from 3 years old up to 14 years of age, but is projected to take students up to the age of 18 over the coming academic years.

The school is accredited by the British Council to offer a range of English curricula to its students, including both the Cambridge and Oxford International curricula as well as Edexcel and all other curriculum models. The Rast Education group’s uniquely rigorous approach to curriculum planning and development is underpinned by a top-flight cohort of professional educators. The wealth of experience in international education that these educators bring to their pedagogy enables them to implement classroom strategies that drive the academic excellence and personal achievement agenda that is the hallmark of all Rast Education group schools.

The ethos and mission of the school is based on upholding the value of the whole child. Whilst our academic traditions and approach to teaching are firmly grounded in an enhanced and rigorous English National Curriculum, there are many aspects of school life that have a global focus. The result is that our students not only achieve excellent results but are open-minded and develop a natural ability to reflect on the international environment around them. Zakho BIS is a place where children can thrive, inspired by passionate teachers and supported by excellent pastoral care. Our students are confident, articulate and engaged and we are immensely proud of all of their achievements and their positive approach to all aspects of school life.
